The popular manga “ Sousou
no Frieren ( Frieren: Beyond Journey's End )”
will return to Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in the August 7 issue
, after a suspension that began in May of this year . This
news has excited fans who were eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story.
The series, written by Kanehito Yamada and
with art by Tsukasa Abe , has faced several hiatuses
throughout its publication, in part due to it being a collaborative
project. Any absence of one of the authors can halt the progress of the
manga , which has led to these occasional hiatuses. Despite these
challenges, “Sousou no Frieren” has maintained a loyal and growing fan base.
The story of “Sousou no Frieren” follows Frieren,
an elf mage who was part of a group of heroes who defeated the Demon King. After
the victory, the group separates, and Frieren, due to her longevity, begins to
reflect on the value of time and human connections. The manga explores deep
themes of friendship, loss, and redemption through its unique and emotional
narrative.
The anime adaptation, produced by Madhouse ,
has been a resounding success, adapting 60 of the 130 currently
available chapters of the manga. This adaptation has been very well received by
both critics and fans, who highlight the quality of the animation and the fidelity
to the original work. Although there is enough material for a second
season, it has not yet been announced , leaving viewers waiting in
anticipation.
The resumption of “Sousou no Frieren” in Weekly
Shonen Sunday is welcome news for readers who have been following the
series since its inception and those who arrived after the anime. The
combination of Yamada's script and Abe's art has created a work that not only
entertains but also invites reflection on the nature of time and human
relationships. With his return, fans are looking forward to seeing how
Frieren's story will develop and what new adventures await them.
