A press release confirmed that the manga written and
illustrated by Makoto Kudou , “ My Awkward Senpai ( Bukiyou
na Senpai. )”, will have an anime adaptation that will
premiere sometime in 2025 in Japan. This confirms the leak reported a
few days ago, and the release also revealed production details and the voice
cast.
The author shared a special illustration to celebrate
this announcement, accompanied by the following comment:
- “ An anime is being made! That’s great news, right? This is all thanks to you guys who have kept reading since it was posted on social media and started serializing in Young Gangan. I’m a person who only knows how to draw, so I basically leave the entire production process to the experts. In the end, it’s each to their own, right? Plus, the voice actors and production staff are full of wonderful people. With feelings similar to a parent seeing off their children, I think, ‘Please take good care of my little ones. ’ I hope you guys are looking forward to the “My Awkward Senpai” anime, too. It would be such an honor! ”
For his part, Makoto Kudou began
publishing the manga in December 2019 through the Young Gangan magazine
of the Square Enix publishing
house , where it is still in serialization. He previously wrote other works
such as “ Mokuyoubi wa Kimi to Nakitai .”, “ HG ni
Koisuru Futari ”, among others.
My Awkward Senpai Synopsis
Kannawa-senpai has always been known for her
clumsiness. While others might describe her as kind-hearted or dedicated,
“easy-going” isn’t a word anyone would use. Social situations often leave her
speechless, and she tends to second-guess herself at every turn. However, her
world is turned upside down when she meets Kamegawa, her new kouhai. From the
moment they meet, his disarming charm, likeable nerd-like nature, and genuine
nature make him surprisingly easy to talk to—something Kannawa isn’t used to.
