“ HUNTER x HUNTER ”
fans were recently met with a mix of hope and frustration following a new
update from author Yoshihiro Togashi on his official
Twitter account. In the message, Togashi shared:

am currently revising and adjusting the character dialogue and chronology
for the next 50 chapters of Hunter Hunter, which will be published in the
future. Once that work is finished, I will resume the work I have been
putting off, such as adding inking to the manuscripts .

However, despite the positive tone of the statement,
the manga remains officially on hold, a recent report confirmed. Following
a brief return in October 2024, the manga once again entered an indefinite
hiatus following the release of Chapter 410 on December 8. This
situation is not new to fans of the series, as extended breaks have become a
recurring feature due to Togashi's chronic health issues, particularly severe
back pain that has made it difficult for him to work continuously.
A history of breaks for health reasons
“HUNTER x HUNTER,” which began publication in 1998 in
Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, has been a revolutionary work in the shōnen manga
genre, but also one of the most intermittent. Since 2006, Togashi has
had to take numerous long breaks, some of them lasting more than a year, which
has generated a bittersweet relationship between the author and his readers.
The author has been candid about the reasons behind
these hiatuses, which include his delicate physical condition. In
previous interviews and social media updates, he has detailed how his mobility
issues and constant pain have led him to work from unconventional positions,
such as lying down, to minimize the impact on his back. Although he
has expressed his commitment to finishing the HUNTER x HUNTER story, these
difficulties have made progress slow and pauses inevitable.
Although the return date of HUNTER x HUNTER remains
uncertain, fans remain hopeful that Togashi will be able to overcome his
difficulties and continue this story that has captured the imagination of
millions. For now, patience and the support of the community seem to be
the key to accompanying the author in this challenge.
