Bad news for “ World Trigger ” fans seems to be the
order of the day: the manga will be on hiatus again. On the official Twitter
account of Jump SQ magazine it was announced that there will be no new
chapter in the next issue, scheduled for February 4, due to the fact that the
author Daisuke Ashihara is not in good health.
The
statement read: “ In the next issue of Jump SQ, which comes out on
February 4, the manga will go on hiatus due to the author’s ill health. We are
sorry for the situation for readers who were waiting for the chapter. The
return is scheduled for the next issue on March 4. We appreciate your
understanding .”

Since the
serialization of “ World Trigger ” began in 2013, suspensions
have been a constant. In 2014, publisher Shueisha revealed that the
author suffers from cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, a disease that causes
compression of the nerves in the neck and a great deal of pain. Since
then, the suspensions have continued, but it has not been clarified whether it
is still due to this reason or some other health problem.
Despite
all this, “World Trigger” remains a successful manga within the demographic. With a total of 15 million
copies in circulation as of July 2023, the work has now reached animation, with
three seasons produced by Toei Animation studios that to date total 99
episodes.

Trigger Synopsis
When the
gate to another world suddenly opens on Earth, the city of Mikado is invaded by
strange creatures known as “Neighbors,” who are malicious beings with
traditional weaponry. In response to this invasion, an organization known as
the Border Defense Agency engages the Neighbors in combat using weapons known
as “Triggers.” Even several years after the start of the battle, the Neighbors
remain a threat and members of the Agency remain on alert.
Despite
this delicate situation, members in training, like Osamu Mikumo, are not
allowed to use their Triggers outside of headquarters. But when a mysterious
student in their class is dragged into a forbidden area by thugs, the Villagers
launch an attack, and Osamu has no choice but to do what he thinks is right. To
his surprise, transfer student Yuuma Kuga quickly makes short work of them,
revealing himself to be a Villager in disguise.
