Yofukashi no Uta will return this summer

On the official site for the anime adaptation of Kotoyama 's manga " Yofukashi no Uta ( Call of the Night )", a new promotional video for the project was revealed. The video confirms that the second season is scheduled to premiere in the Summer 2025 period (July-September) in Japan , and lists that Rina Satou will play Kiku Hoshimi , a sensual woman with whom Kou's friend Mahiru falls in love.

The statement also included a comment from actress Rina Satou:

  • The charm of Yofukashi no Uta - Staying up all night. When we were kids, it held the mystery of a secret affair. As we grew up, it could make us feel completely alone in the world. And as adults, it becomes that moment of transgression where we say to our "tomorrow selves": Cheer up, it's your turn to take care of this! (laughs). Set in that nocturnal world we've all explored at least once, Yofukashi no Uta immerses us in the story of Nazuna-chan and Kou-kun, where the lightheartedness of their conversations, the vampires, the mysteries, and the romantic entanglements create an irresistibly charming atmosphere. A late night like this... you really want to experience it.

  • On playing Hoshimi Kiku - A fragility that seems to vanish with the arrival of dawn, a playful maturity wrapped in a seductive aura, a melancholic gaze and, at the same time, a naive sweetness like a child's... Kiku is a character who seems to slip through your fingers, impossible to fully grasp. Wanting to understand her better, I read the manga in depth, trying to get to the core of her. If I were in her shoes, I might not be able to walk the same path she did. But even so... I understand you. To the point where it makes me want to cry. With the future of the story at heart, I give myself completely to every recording session.

For his part, Kotoyama , who is also the author of the " Dagashi Kashi " franchise , began publishing the manga in Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in August 2019 and ended it in January 2024. An anime adaptation by LIDEN FILMS studios , directed by Tomoyuki Itamura and with scripts written by Michiko Yokote , premiered during the Summer-2022 season (July-September) in Japan.

Synopsis of Yofukashi no Uta

Kou Yamori appears to be a typical high school student on the surface. Relatively good at studying and kind to his classmates, he tries very hard to maintain this facade. One day, however, he decides to drop the pretense and drops out of school, developing insomnia as a result of not having a daytime outlet for his energy. When he goes for walks alone at night, he feels slightly better, though he is aware that his inability to sleep should be considered a serious problem.

On one such walk, Kou meets a strange girl, Nazuna Nanakusa, who diagnoses the cause of his insomnia: despite making changes in his life, it still prevents him from experiencing true freedom. She tells him that he won't be able to sleep if he's not satisfied with the way he spends his waking hours. When he seems to have resolved his current worries, Nazuna invites him to her apartment to share her futon. After a while, unaware that he's only pretending to be unconscious, she leans over him and bites his neck.
