The popular sports romance manga, " Blue Box ( Ao no Hako )", written and illustrated by Kouji Miura , may not be extending its run for much longer. In his most recent author comment, Miura asked readers to continue supporting the series "for a little while longer" , leading fans to speculate that the story is nearing its conclusion.

Published in Weekly Shonen Jump, "Blue Box" celebrates its fourth anniversary, cementing its place as one of the most beloved youth romance stories of recent years. Although the manga's ending has yet to be officially confirmed, Miura's comments have generated excitement among fans. For now, we'll have to wait and see if upcoming chapters reveal whether the story is in its final arc.

For his part, Kouji Miura began publishing the manga in Shueisha 's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in April 2021. Kouji Miura is also the author of other manga such as “ Sensei, Suki desu .” and “ Aozora Rubber ”, while “ Ao no Hako ” is based on a one-shot he published in 2020. An anime adaptation by Telecom Animation Film studios is airing from Fall-2024 (October-December) , with twenty-three episodes confirmed.

Synopsis of Blue Box

Taiki Inomata, a third-year high school student, attends Eimei Academy, an integrated school with a strong sports program. Having made the school's badminton team, Taiki tries to attend open practices as early as possible. But no matter how early he goes, he always arrives second to the gym. The person one step ahead of him is Chinatsu Kano, a first-year student at the school who has a crush on Taiki. Chinatsu is the rising star of the basketball team, and the gap between her and Taiki couldn't be greater.

Although Taiki is a decent badminton player, his popularity doesn't come close to Chinatsu's, making it even less likely that his feelings will be reciprocated. However, in a strange twist of fate, he ends up living in Taiki's house! Wanting to become a worthy rival to Chinatsu, Taiki pursues the same dream as his crush: participating in the Nationals. Taiki begins training harder than ever, all in the hopes of building a strong relationship with his new housemate.
