It's
official! "Uma Musume: Pretty Derby" finally has a global release
date: June 26. The
announcement was made during a live stream on PakaTube, where they also
announced that pre-registration begins April 28. The game will be available for
Android, iOS, and also for PC via Steam.
And as part
of the celebration, the official Uma Musume English Twitter account launched a
rather interesting contest. Prizes include a pair of plane tickets to
Japan (yes, to Japan!), $50 Amazon gift cards (for 10 lucky winners), and sets
of Special Week and Silence Suzuka acrylic keychains (for 5 other winners). To
participate, just follow the account and repost the giveaway video. You have
until May 11, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. to enter.
Plus, if
you pre-register, you'll get several in-game gifts once it's released. In case you didn't know,
"Uma Musume: Pretty Derby" is a Cygames game that was announced in
2018 but was delayed until February 2021 for further refinement. The global
version was unveiled last year at Anime Expo, and those attending the 151st
Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks Day will be able to try out demos of the game
at the Cygames booth.
The
franchise is a gacha game where you train horse girls (uma musume) at Tracen
Academy to become the best racers in Japan. It's free-to-play, though there are also
in-game items you can purchase. Since its launch, the franchise has exploded in
popularity: it already has several spin-off manga, four television anime, OVAs,
ONAs, a film, a play, and, of course, tons of events. As if that
weren't enough, "Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray," centered on Oguri Cap
and her racing, is currently airing. The anime can be viewed on
various streaming platforms and also on YouTube.
