Renowned author Takashi Sano, known for works such as Back When You Called Us Devils, has released a new manga titled Bakudan (translated as "Bomb"). The announcement was made this Thursday through the official X account of Kodansha's Comic Days platform.

The series debuted this Friday, May 24, with the publication of its first two chapters, offering readers an intense dose of suspense from the start.

A tension-filled explosion in Tokyo

Bakudan opens with a seemingly harmless middle-aged man arrested for a minor altercation and taken to the Nogata police station in Tokyo. During the interrogation, he makes a seemingly meaningless prediction: "There will be an explosion in Akihabara at 10:00."

What seemed like a rambling turns out to be true, and when the explosion rocks the shopping district, a chain of events is triggered that keeps the police on edge. With new warnings of more explosions, a race against time begins to stop the mysterious man and prevent a greater tragedy.

A long-awaited return after his previous works

Takashi Sano is no stranger to the psychological thriller genre. In October 2021, he launched Kimi ga Kemono ni Naru Mae ni (Before You Turn into a Beast) in Weekly Young Magazine, ending in March 2023. Its eighth and final volume was published in May of the same year.

He is also remembered for Kimi ga Bokura wo Akuma to Yonda Koro (Back When You Called Us Devils), a work that began in 2017 on the Magazine Pocket app and concluded with 14 volumes in October 2020. This series was translated into English by Kodansha USA Publishing.

Now available on Comic Days

Interested readers can now enjoy Bakudan on Kodansha's Comic Days digital platform. With its unmistakable style and a plot that promises mounting tension, Sano's new work aims to become another benchmark in modern Japanese thrillers.
