Viz  Media and MANGA Plus have announced the official English release of Yūki Kawaguchi 's new manga , Otr of the Flame . This story, packed with drama, magic, and epic elements, promises to become a new favorite among shonen fans.

The plot takes place in a world plunged into eternal winter , caused by the relentless advance of the Ice Kingdom . The protagonist, Otr , is a kind-hearted young man who dreams of becoming a warrior like his father, although he currently plays the humble but vital role of cook in a fortress. His duty: to keep alive the flame that symbolizes human resistance.

However, when the fortress is attacked by the Ice Kingdom's demonic army , both the people and the fire it protects are in danger. Thus begins Otr's journey, as he must awaken a hidden power to try to change the fate of the world. The journey of a hero surrounded by fire and ice has begun.

A simultaneous premiere with great expectations

Otr of the Flame launched on May 11 in Weekly Shonen Jump (issue 24), and was simultaneously available in English through Viz Media and MANGA Plus . The first chapter is now available for free on both platforms.

Author Yūki Kawaguchi is remembered for his previous work The Hunters Guild: Red Hood , also published in Weekly Shonen Jump between June and November 2021. Although its run was short, the series left a lasting impression with its visual style and universe of hunters and monsters.

A new beginning for Kawaguchi

With Other of the Flame , Kawaguchi once again ventures into the realm of fantasy, this time with a narrative laden with symbolism, where fire represents humanity's hope in the face of a world frozen in fear and darkness. The author's detailed and dynamic drawing style once again stands out, adding strength to a story that has only just begun but is already igniting great expectations among readers.

Will this be the next shonen series that conquers a global audience? Time—and fire—will tell.
