The Detective
Conan franchise continues unstoppable. As announced on its official
website, the 28th film in the saga, titled One-eyed Flashback, has
surpassed 10 million tickets sold and generated 14.4
billion yen (about $97 million) as of July 16, 2025,
just 90 days after its premiere in Japan on April 18.
An
unprecedented achievement for Japanese cinema
With this
milestone, One-eyed Flashback becomes the second film in
the franchise to reach 10 million admissions, after Case Closed: The
Million-dollar Pentagram achieved the same feat in 2024. However, it
is the first time in the history of Japanese cinema that a
series achieves this number of viewers in two consecutive installments.
Attendance
and fundraising records
The feature
film was screened in 522 theaters across Japan, marking the
franchise's biggest release to date. Since its debut, the film has
remained in first place in the Japanese box office ranking for
five consecutive weekends and is already ranked as the seventeenth
highest-grossing film in the country's history, surpassing even Makoto
Shinkai's Weathering With You (2019).
A
special thank you to the fans
Director Katsuya
Shigehara expressed his gratitude for the achievement: "We are
grateful to everyone, from the team that makes these films possible year after
year, to the fans who eagerly flock to the cinema each season, and also to
those who saw a Conan movie for the first time this year. Your continued
support is the driving force behind the next project. Thank you for continuing
to support Detective Conan." To commemorate this achievement,
