Fans of romance and school mysteries can
breathe easy. The production committee behind the animated
adaptation of the popular original manga Mayonaka Heart Tune (known
in the West as Tune In to the Midnight Heart) left us excellent
news to liven up the weekend. Through their official media, they confirmed that
the long-awaited second season is already a reality, revealing a vibrant
promotional image and setting its landing on the small screen for some point in
the distant year 2027.
To ensure that the charming essence of the
story created by Masakuni Igarashi remains intact, the
Gekkō studio decided to play it safe and bring back its old guard. The
general director's chair will continue to be occupied by Masayuki
Takahashi, while the scripts will continue under the strict supervision
of Yukie Sugawara. In the visual section, the talented Tomoyuki
Shitaya will return to his brushes for character designs,
backed by the wonderful scores of composer Kuniyuki Takahashi, which assures us
that the franchise will continue to maintain its impeccable
audiovisual quality.
New faces for an unsolved mystery
Beyond continuing to follow in the footsteps of
Arisu Yamabuki in his intense quest to discover which of the charismatic girls
of the broadcasting club is the enigmatic announcer Apollo, this sequel will
drastically expand the intimate core of our protagonist. The official
announcement introduced interesting additions to the voice cast,
introducing the temperamental older sister, Riina, who deals with a huge
complex due to her short stature, and the laid-back younger sister, Mito. These
new family dynamics promise to inject a good dose of chaos and freshness into
the main mystery that kept us hooked in the first installment.
