If you grew
up fascinated by the armor, magic, and giant robots of the nineties magical
girls, get ready to shed a tear of nostalgia. The new animated adaptation of Magic
Knight Rayearth has just released its second main trailer, revealing new
members of its voice cast, its musical themes and confirming excellent news
about its broadcast: it will be broadcast continuously for six months in a row
starting on October 7.
The new
video trailer allowed us to hear for the first time the opening theme titled
"Otome no Tsurugi," performed by singer Toaka, as well as the
closing theme "Hoshiakari," by Yurina Kawaguchi. In addition,
the production took advantage of the event to add names of enormous weight to
the cast. The talented Mamiko Noto will lend her voice to Alcione, while
Ayumu Murase will play the young Ascot, Hitomi Ueda will take on
the role of Caldina and the experienced Hiroki Yasumoto will play
Lafarga.
This
fantastic group of actors joins the previously announced main cast, where Ayane
Sakura plays Hikaru Shido, Rumi Okubo plays Umi Ryuzaki, and Rie
Takahashi plays Fu Hooji. The story will also feature performances by Saori
Hayami as Princess Emeraude, Yuki Ono as Priest Zagato, Mika
Kikuchi in the role of Mokona, Yuki Kaji as the magician Clef, Emiri
Kato as Presea and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio.
Behind the
scenes, E&H Production is leading the animation under the overall
direction of Yui Miura in his series directorial debut, backed by
creative production by Sunghoo Park and project supervision by TMS's
UNLIMITED PRODUCE. The scripts are written by Shigeru Murakoshi, while Satomi
Watabe adapts the iconic character designs. In the sound section, the
majestic soundtrack is composed together by the legendary Yuki Kajiura
together with Takumi Ozawa and Shiho Terada.
About
the Magic Warriors
Created by
the famous quartet of authors CLAMP, the original work began publication
in the pages of Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine in 1993, quickly becoming
an international phenomenon. The plot follows the steps of three high school
students named Hikaru, Umi and Fu, who during a school field trip to Tokyo Tower
are magically transported to the world of Zephyr. Upon arrival, the wizard Clef
reveals that the planet is on the verge of destruction after the priest Zagato
kidnapped Princess Emeraude, whose prayers maintain the balance of the place.
Transformed into the legendary Magic Warriors, the three young women must
master their elemental powers and learn to work together to save Zephyr.
