Having a Russian girl whispering nice things in your ear thinking you don't understand anything is a luxury that Masachika still enjoys, although the wait to see how this mess continues will get a little longer than planned. The anime adaptation of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go by Dereru Tonari no Alya-san) presented during the KyoMAF event its first trailer with real scenes from the second season, confirming that the franchise has already exceeded 5.5 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Although the new episodes were initially scheduled to hit screens in 2026, the animation team made the decision to move the premiere to 2027. The reason behind this pause is to guarantee the highest possible visual quality after the enormous success of the first installment. In addition, the production went through an internal restructuring within the Doga Kobo studio: the direction is now in the hands of Hiroshi Haraguchi, while the scripts become the responsibility of Yuka Yamada, taking over from Ryota Itoh. Yuhei Murota remains in charge of character design and main animation direction, accompanied by Seong Min Kim in assistant direction.

The story of this second season will pick up the events directly from the fourth volume of the light novels, covering the long-awaited summer holidays. The video teaser offered the first glimpses of Masachika and Alya studying together at home, as well as the student council's getaway to a private beach villa, where there will be no shortage of swimsuits, visits to hot springs, fireworks and the inevitable emotional clash between Alya and her sister Masha. All of this will serve as a preamble to the academy's back-to-school and chaotic cultural festival.

As for the voice cast, the main performances return intact with the talented actress Sumire Uesaka giving life to the beautiful Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou and actor Kohei Amasaki playing the cunning Masachika Kuze. The supporting cast once again features Yukiyo Fujii as Maria Mikhailovna Kujou, Wakana Maruoka in the role of Yuki Suou, Saya Aizawa as Ayano Kimishima, Maki Kawase as Chisaki Sarashina and Kaito Ishikawa giving life to Touya Kenzaki, ensuring the chemistry that conquered the audience in her debut.

Born from the light novels written by Sunsunsun and illustrated by Momoco, the work began publication under the Sneaker Bunko imprint of the Kadokawa publishing house in 2021, also having a popular manga adaptation illustrated by Saho Tenamachi. The plot follows in the footsteps of Alisa "Alya" Kujou, the most coveted and strict girl in the academy, and Masachika Kuze, a rather lazy student who sits next to her. To hide her true feelings of shyness and affection towards him, Alya mutters flirtations and confessions in Russian believing that no one at school understands her, never suspecting that Masachika understands the language perfectly and secretly enjoys his every embarrassing word.
