If you thought that the genre of life stories had already shown everything, this comedy is ready to break any traditional mold. The company Aniplex officially confirmed that the manga Null Meta (Nurumeta) will make the leap to television with its own anime adaptation scheduled to premiere sometime in 2027.

The news began to sound a few days ago when the production company released a brief preview that only showed the letters "NLMT", unleashing the curiosity of followers before revealing the first promotional image. The big surprise of the announcement lies in the direction of the project, which will be in charge of Kai Ikarashi, known for his outstanding work at the helm of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. This release will mark the first time Ikarashi has taken over the full direction of an animated television series.

The behind-the-scenes creative team is completed with Tatsuya Takahashi supervising and writing the scripts, while Shin Ogasawara will take over the design of the characters. The animation will be carried out by the Soigne studio, a production house that previously demonstrated its talent in the adaptation of titles such as mono and Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk.

The story follows the crazy routine of four high school girls led by Kurumi, an extremely clumsy and unbright android. Next to her are Chiaki, her guardian who is a little crazy; Sakina, a quiet young woman who has fun with any silly thing; and Shiyuki, the only sane person within the group. Between modifications to the android, absurd mimes and everyday talks without any sense, the work offers a fresh and surreal perspective within the format of four panels.

Null Meta is a fur-panel comedy written and illustrated by Kokamumo. The work originally began as an independently published web series before making the leap to official serialization in the pages of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Max magazine in early 2020, accumulating six compilation volumes in the Japanese market.

The author himself celebrated the news by thanking his readers for their constant support and expressing his excitement to see the funny occurrences of his characters come to life on the small screen. For his part, director Kai Ikarashi promised to do his best to deliver an extremely entertaining animated experience for all viewers.
