Having your
position in the imperial court taken away and locked up in a dungeon sounds
like the worst nightmare, unless your previous body was so fragile that you
couldn't even walk. The animated adaptation of Though I Am an Inept
Villainess (Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga - Suuguu Chouso
Torikae Den) officially confirmed that its second cours, centered on the
arc of the first royal outing, will be released in January 2027. The
announcement was accompanied by a new promotional image and the reveal of the
voice actors who are integrated into the story.
For this
new stage of the story, the production announced the incorporation of talents
of enormous renown. Renowned actor Yuichi Nakamura will take on the role
of Keikou, Rerien's older brother, while Shunichi Toki will play
Keishou, the second brother of the family. For his part, Chiaki Kobayashi
will lend his voice to Unran, the young leader of a key village for the
upcoming events.
This second
part will give continuity to what was presented during the first half broadcast
from July 2026. The animation continues under the production of the renowned studio
Doga Kobo with the direction of Mitsue Yamazaki. The supervision and
writing of the scripts is still in charge of Yoshiko Nakamura, while Ai
Kikuchi is in charge of the character design and Yukari Hashimoto
composes the soundtrack. In addition, the series features the opening theme
"Sunny" performed by singer-songwriter milet, while the
closing theme "Shooting Star" is provided by the musical project
Rokudenashi.

Born as a
series of light novels written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by YukiKana,
the work began publication under the Ichijinsha publishing house in December
2020, also featuring a popular manga adaptation illustrated by Ei Ohitsuji.
The plot
takes us to a Chinese-inspired kingdom where five clans compete to send their
maidens to the imperial court in the hope of crowning the next empress. Among
them is Kou Reirin, the beautiful and sickly butterfly of the court who seems
to have her marriage to the crown prince assured. Everything takes a turn when
Shu Keigetsu, known as the court rat, attacks her during the lantern festival
to exchange bodies with magic and steal her place. To everyone's surprise,
Reirin wakes up in the dungeons happy and full of energy, enjoying for the
first time in her life a healthy body that not even the threat of execution can
ruin.
