The Lollipop
Chainsaw universe is ready to expand. After a joint announcement
on July 17, Nada Holdings and Dragami
Games confirmed that the franchise will not only receive a new
video game, but also an anime adaptation. As part of the
relaunch, new official social media accounts have also been opened for the
project.
No
release date or team details
So far, no
concrete details have been revealed about the production of the game or anime,
including release dates, creative team, or studios involved.
However, the official announcement has generated great expectation among fans
of the original series.
A new
installment without creative censorship
In the
press release, Nada Holdings assured that the new game will be developed "without
imposing creative restrictions in the name of DEI (Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion)", and that the goal is to recreate a world
full of black humor. This statement was also repeated in the Japanese
version of the announcement, suggesting an intentional focus on preserving the
headline's provocative and original tone.
A cult
classic that returns with a vengeance
The
original Lollipop Chainsaw game was released in 2012 as
a result of a collaboration between Grasshopper Manufacture,
No More Heroes creator Suda51, and film
director James Gunn, known for his work on Superman and Guardians
of the Galaxy. In 2024, the franchise received a remaster titled
"Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP," which has already sold 1.5
million copies.
Now, with a
new installment and an anime on the way, the most iconic zombie hunter in video
games promises to return in all her bloody, irreverent and action-packed style.
