The
long-awaited second season of the new Ranma 1/2 anime continues
to reveal news ahead of its premiere in October 2025. This
time, Mousse and Ukyo Kuonji's updated
designs have been featured, along with special commentary from their respective
voice actors.
Toshihiko
Seki returns as Mousse
Actor Toshihiko Seki, who originally
played Mousse in the classic series, will reprise his role for
this new adaptation. Known for characters such as Muzan Kibutsuji in Demon
Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Duo Maxwell in Mobile
Suit Gundam Wing, Seki commented on the excitement he feels at seeing how
the series will attract both new fans and nostalgic
followers of the original era. He added that Mousse's role will be
"stirring up history," and asked fans to cheer on his character in
his relentless love chase for Shampoo.
Kaori Nazuka se suma como Ukyo Kuonji
Actress Kaori
Nazuka, known for roles such as Invisible Girl in My
Hero Academia and Miyu Edelfelt in Fate/kaleid
liner PRISMA ILLYA, will play Ukyo Kuonji, another of Ranma's
potential fiancées. Nazuka confessed to having been an avid reader of Ranma
1/2 during her school years and expressed her excitement to play her
beloved "Ucchan" in this new era.
A new
era for an anime classic
The remake
is directed by Konosuke Ueda at MAPPA studio,
with Kimiko Ueno composing the series, Hiromi
Taniguchi as character designer, and Kaoru Wada on
the soundtrack. The first season is now available on Netflix,
while the Blu-ray version will be released in Japan on October
8, and will include a new illustration of Ranma chica signed by Taniguchi.
The
original Ranma 1/2 manga, created by Rumiko Takahashi,
was serialized by Shogakukan between August 1987 and March
1996. Currently, VIZ Media publishes the series in
English.
