Bandai Namco Pictures on Wednesday revealed an official teaser trailer for the new project commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō) franchise. The video confirmed that it will be an all-new anime film that will be released in the summer of 2026.

A luxury team for the sergeant's return

The film will be supervised and written by Yūichi Fukuda, recognized for his work in live-action adaptations such as GintamaSaint Young Men and HK/Hentai Kamen. The direction will be in charge of Fumitoshi Oizaki, character designer of the original Sgt. Frog series and director of titles such as Romeo x Juliet and Etotama.

The character design will be carried out by Satoshi Koike, known for his participation in Princess Connect! Re:Dive (season 2) and Soul Eater Not!.

Iconic music also returns

The classic theme "KERO! to MARCH" will be reinterpreted especially for the occasion by the musicians ano and Soshina. This new version will be titled "Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH" and serve as the official anthem of the 20th anniversary.

A series that marked generations

Based on the original manga by Mine Yoshizaki, the Sgt. Frog anime series was produced by Sunrise and aired in Japan between 2004 and 2011, accumulating a total of 358 episodes and five films. At the time, ADV Films acquired the license for North America, but never released it; subsequently, Funimation released two "seasons" on DVD.

In 2021, Discotek picked up the series to distribute it in Blu-ray format with SD quality, and to date it has released from season 1 to 7.

Keroro and his chaotic earthly invasion

Crunchyroll, which added the series to its catalog in 2021, describes it like this: Keroro is an alien sergeant sent to conquer Earth. But after being abandoned by his troops, he ends up living with a human family and dealing with household chores instead of intergalactic wars. Although his mission was suspended, he still dreams of regrouping his platoon... if you manage to overcome your karaoke addiction.

The return of Sgt. Frog with a new film promises to revive the nostalgia of his fans and conquer a new generation of fans with his absurd humor and endearing characters.
