The
long-awaited movie Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc surprised
fans by announcing that Kenshi Yonezu will not be alone in his
musical return to the franchise. The renowned singer-songwriter will join
forces with the iconic Hikaru Utada to perform the final theme
titled "JANE DOE", an unreleased collaboration that
promises to mark a memorable moment in the history of anime.
The
announcement was accompanied by a brief teaser that offers a
first look at the song, generating great expectation among fans. According to
Yonezu, the idea of adding Utada arose organically during the songwriting
process. Hearing his voice on the track, he described being deeply moved,
calling the moment a true honor in his career.
For his
part, Utada said that he did not hesitate to accept the proposal. Although both
have distinctive styles, he stressed that the challenge of finding a creative
balance brought out the best in each one, without losing their essence as
artists.
A luxury
team behind the film
The
direction will be in charge of Tatsuya Yoshihara, known for his
work in key episodes of the Chainsaw Man anime and in much
of Black Clover. The script will be the responsibility of Hiroshi
Seko, while Kazutaka Sugiyama returns as character
designer. The animation team includes professionals such as Souta
Yamazaki and Shun in supporting character
design, Sota Shigetsugu as action animation director,
and Kiyotaka Oshiyama in demon design, all under the
production of MAPPA.
Release
dates and availability
Chainsaw
Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will be released in Japan in September, with an international
release scheduled for September 24. In the United States, the film
will hit theaters on October 29 thanks to Sony Pictures. The
original series premiered in October 2022 and is currently available for streaming through Crunchyroll.
Brief
synopsis to know about the anime
Denji is a young man who survives
with his partner, the chainsaw demon Pochita, working as a demon
hunter to pay off a huge debt inherited from his father. However, his life
takes a tragic turn when he is betrayed and killed. In his last moments, he
makes a pact with Pochita and is reborn as Chainsaw Man, a hybrid
with the heart of a demon willing to face a world of violence and darkness.
