Renowned
Japanese director Naoya Kurisu, together with the independent
label Hand to Mouse, has revealed his new 3D animated short
film Kinuginu no Hanayuki (Frost Flowers After a Night of
Pleasure). The play will be released in Japan on October 17,
accompanying a digitally remastered version of his previous film Sleep
Tight My Baby, Cradled in the Sky (2015).
With an
approximate duration of 15 minutes, Kinuginu no Hanayuki will
initially have a modern dubbing in Japanese, although the release of a version
with a dubbing adapted to the Japanese of the time is planned.
Inspired
by classic tales from the Heian era
The plot is
based on a story from the Konjaku Monogatari, a celebrated
collection of stories from the Heian era. The story follows Tokimasa,
who visits the home of a woman he abandoned long ago. There he finds his corpse
and a mysterious light that terrifies him. Convinced that he had been cursed by
her before he died, he turns to the onmyōji (exorcist) Kamo no Tadayuki to
break the spell.

The cast
features Ryūichi Kijima as Tokimasa, Chihiro Ishiguro as
Ohama, plus Taketora and Orine Fukushima in
supporting roles.
Kurisu
directs and writes the screenplay under the production of Hand to Mouse.
The music is in charge of Kawagen, the sound direction is signed
by Isao Kajitani, the audio engineering is in charge of Eiji
Hotta and Emi Takanashi is in charge of the sound
effects.

Kurisu's
previous feature film, Sleep Tight My Baby, Cradled in the Sky, was
released in April 2015 in Japan. In addition, he has collaborated on the 3D
modeling for the Undead Murder Farce anime.
