If you ever
thought that interactions with anime characters would be limited to game
screens, reality has just taken a turn towards real-time chat with an alchemist
from Kurken Island. On August 25, 2026, SpiralAI launched the RyzaChat:AI (RyzaChat:AI,
Creating Your Own Midsummer Dream Story with Ryza) app in Japan, an
official project licensed by Koei Tecmo Games and Gust that allows you to chat
directly with Reisalin Stout. The tool arrived late due to high demand for
pre-registrations and is already facing criticism for a paywall that limits
free conversations after a few exchanges.
The app
places the player on Kurken Island next to Ryza without a fixed script. RPG
mode conversations drive exploration, material gathering, alchemical synthesis,
quests, and combat, while Chat mode allows for casual interactions without
advancing the main story. Ryza changes expressions and gestures based on
dialogue, and her synthesized voice comes from new recordings of the original
actress. The world map is progressively unlocked to visit villages, forests and
rivers where familiar or new figures appear, all with the light and summery
tone of the Secret trilogy.
The Atelier franchise
has been focused on alchemy RPGs for decades under the Gust and Koei Tecmo
labels. The Ryza lineup comprises Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the
Secret Hideout (2019), Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the
Secret Fairy (2021), and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End
& the Secret Key (2023), with an emphasis on character-driven
storylines, detailed worldbuilding, and turn-based combat tied to crafted gear.
In Latin America, it is mainly known for games on Switch, PlayStation, and PC,
plus the 2023 anime adaptation.
SpiralAI
developed and published the app under official license. The SpiralLLM model was
trained only on authorized Atelier Ryza sets and materials,
and the illustrations received human supervision from the original team without
the use of generative AI for the art. The project promises royalty revenue
sharing with voice actors, illustrators, and rights holders.
After the
tutorial, free users reported that conversations are quickly cut off and that
only the "RyzaChat PRO" subscription (980 yen per month or 6,000 per
year, with about 15 shifts every ten days) allows you to continue. Paid token
packages offer additional messages, and the three-day trial period
automatically renews to the annual plan. The complaints highlight the high cost
versus the limited number of free messages and the immediate pressure to pay.
The
developers explained on Aug. 25 that real-time AI processing and speech
synthesis require considerable GPU resources, difficult to secure due to the
global demand for generative hardware. The peak of pre-registrations exceeded
expectations and the team is working on expanding the infrastructure to stabilize
the service. Player conversations will not be used to train models and the
system respects the original world under Gust's supervision.
The app
already supports Japanese, English and Brazilian Portuguese, although the
global version is still in preparation. The youthful tone and freedom to create
custom stories seek to capture the spirit of a summer on the island, but
restricted access marks the current debate.
