Within the
framework of Anime NYC, the production of a new documentary
entitled The Roots of To Your Eternity was announced, which
will premiere on Crunchyroll on August 29, 2025 (except in
Japan). This special will explore the creative process behind the work before
the arrival of its third season in October.
Interviews
and special narration
The
documentary will feature interviews with Yoshitoki Oima, author of
the original manga, and Kiyoko Sayama, director of the second
season and current chief director of the third. Other key members of the team
will also participate. The narration will be in charge of Kenjiro Tsuda,
voice of the character The Beholder.
About
Manga and Anime
The manga
To Your Eternity was published between November 2016 and June
2025, ending with a total of 25 volumes. In the West, the work
is distributed under license from Kodansha USA.
The anime's
first season debuted in August 2021, followed by a second season in October
2022. For the third, Sota Yokote will take over the direction,
while Kiyoko Sayama will become chief director. The creative
team will once again have Shinzo Fujita in the composition of
the series, Koji Yabuno in the character design, Ryo
Kawasaki in the music and Takeshi Takadera as sound
director. The animation will be produced by Drive and STUDIO
MASSKET.

Crunchyroll will air the third season
from October 2025, and currently offers the previous two seasons
both subtitled and dubbed in English.
The plot
follows Fushi, an immortal entity that begins as an orb capable of
transforming into whatever stimulates it and resurrecting itself after death.
His journey takes him from rock to wolf, and finally to a child, facing
learnings about life, human kindness and the harsh challenges posed by
the Nokker, enemies that threaten his existence and those of those
around him.
