The 12th
and final episode of Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer
Hikaru Died) closed with an important announcement: the second
season of the anime is now in production. The official website also
shared a commemorative visual and a promotional video that
confirm the continuity of the project.
Details
of the first season
The first
installment of the anime, produced by CygamesPictures, premiered
on July 6 and had worldwide distribution through Netflix,
with subtitles in multiple languages. The adaptation brought to the screen the
work of Mokumokuren, a supernatural mystery manga with a growing
readership.
About
manga and light novels
The manga
began as posts on X (formerly Twitter) before moving to
serialization on Young Ace UP in August 2021. To date, Kadokawa has
published seven volumes, the most recent released on July 4, 2025.
In
addition, Mio Nukaga has been working on a light novel
adaptation under the Kadokawa Shoten label since December 2023. The
second volume was also released on July 4.
