The official website of the manga Kore Kaite Shine (Draw this, then die!), the work of Minoru Toyoda, announced on Tuesday its adaptation into an anime for television. The project will premiere in 2026 and presented its first promotional video along with the main details of the production staff.
The anime will be directed by Hiroaki Akagi, known for his work on The Dangers in My Heart and Teasing Master Takagi-san. The production will be handled by the Shin-Ei Animation studio, responsible for multiple comedy and slice of life series.
Details of the original manga
Minoru Toyoda, also author of Love Roma, began publishing Kore Kaite Shine in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine in November 2021. The play is also available from Sunday Webry. The eighth compiled volume will be released on October 10.
The story is set on Izuōshima, an island located 120 kilometers south of Tokyo. It narrates the life of Ai Yasumi, a high school student with a passion for manga who discovers the joys and difficulties of creating her own stories.
Recognitions and awards
The manga won the Shogakukan Award at its 70th edition held in January, in addition to the 16th Manga Taisho Award in 2023. It was also ranked number six in the male reader category in Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide, 2023 edition.
