Netflix he officially announced the
actor who will play Portgas D. Ace in the third season of the
series One Piece Live-Action. The role will be played by Xolo
Maridueña, recognized for his performances in Cobra Kai and Blue
Beetle. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional image confirming
the participation of the American actor of Latin descent in the production
inspired by the manga Eiichiro Oda.
The news
comes as fans wait for the premiere of the second season, scheduled
for him March 10, 2026. This new batch of episodes will reportedly
adapt the arcs of Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little
Garden and Drum Island. Ace's character will debut briefly
during this stage before playing a more relevant role in the future story of
the live-action.

playing Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai and to Jaime
Reyes in Blue Beetle, Maridueña has been one of the most
requested choices by manga followers. His physical resemblance to Iñaki
Godoy, actor who plays Monkey D. Luffy- also generated
enthusiasm among fans who expected to see him as the protagonist's older
brother. On social media, many celebrated the decision, calling it “perfect”.

The live-action of OnePiece debuted in august 2023 and it quickly became a global success, leading the netflix's global ranking of English series with more than 140 million hours played. The addition of Ace marks a new step in the expansion of the adaptation, which continues under the direct supervision of Eiichiro Oda.
