The closure of Café Familia is not definitive, at least not yet. Prolific mangaka Seo Kouji surprised fans today by confirming that his hit romantic comedy, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses (Megami no Café Terrace), will continue to be published irregularly in Weekly Shonen Magazine, despite having concluded its main serialization.

Although the central story officially ended in November 2025 with chapter 217, the author has decided to extend the life of the work through special chapters, epilogues, and additional stories that will further explore the dynamic between Hayato and the five heroines. This decision comes driven by the author's affection for the project and the sustained popularity of its anime adaptations in 2023 and 2024. Volume 22, which compiles the outcome of the main plot, will go on sale on January 16, 2026.

Double premiere in January

Far from taking a break, Seo Kouji is preparing for an intense start to the year. His new work, entitled Ano Shima no Uminesou (The Uminesou Inn on That Island), will make its debut in the same magazine on January 14, 2026. Set on a remote island, the new series promises to bring back the nostalgic and youthful tone of the author's classics such as Suzuka and A Town Where You Live.

About The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses

The series follows Hayato Kasukabe, who inherits his grandmother's coffee shop only to discover that five girls live there. What begins as an eviction attempt transforms into a story of business management and harem romance, where Hayato and the "goddesses" work together to save the family business.
