Uncomplicated
romantic comedies always find their place in the hearts of the audience, and
the success of this adaptation is the perfect proof. During the stage
presentations of the AnimeJapan 2026 event, it was officially confirmed that
Kocha Agasawa's animated adaptation of the manga, You and I Are Polar
Opposites (Seihantaina Kimi to Boku), will return to television
with a second season scheduled for this July.
The news
lands quite quickly, considering that the first season only made its debut on
January 11, 2026 through chains such as MBS and TBS. The production committee
made the decision to give viewers no respite, taking advantage of the warm
reception that this rom-com had to tie up the continuation almost immediately.
Although for the moment the panel has kept the promotional videos and
announcements about new additions to the cast, the rapid jump to the summer
season suggests that the same technical team and animation studio will keep the
reins of the project so as not to lose the narrative rhythm.
About
You and I Are Polar Opposites
For those
who still don't give this school slice of life a chance, the original work
written and illustrated by Kocha Agasawa took its first steps
as a one-shot at the beginning of 2021. Thanks to its popularity, it achieved a
complete serialization on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital
platform in 2022, managing to conclude its story satisfactorily in November
2024 and publishing its eighth final compilation volume in March 2025.
The plot
presents us with a classic but extremely addictive dynamic: the attraction
between opposite poles. On the one hand we have Suzuki, a girl overflowing with
energy whose personality constantly pushes her to follow the crowd to fit in.
However, his attention is captured by Tani, a silent, reserved and direct boy
who never hesitates to express what he really thinks. The series explores her
daily school life, breaking down those adorable little misunderstandings that
arise when two people with radically different personalities begin to
experience their first romantic feelings.
