The Vermillion Mask anime reveals its first trailer with debut for fall

Giving in to the power of a cursed mask can transform a craftsman's fate into an irreparable tragedy. The production committee has officially announced that the anime adaptation of The Vermillion Mask manga will begin airing on Japanese television during the month of October 2026. In addition, it was confirmed that the series will be divided into two parts (cours) to cover its narrative.


The update was accompanied by the release of the first animated trailer and a promotional poster. Through this audiovisual material, viewers can get a first look at the animation style and design of the protagonist, while the technical team that will lead the direction of this dark story of redemption was revealed.




Details of The Vermillion Mask


The animation production takes place in the facilities of the 100Studio studio. As it is a first promotional approach, details about the cast of voice actors are kept confidential, but the technical section has the participation of renowned creatives in the industry.


About the work


The plot follows Peru, a young apprentice mask maker whose life takes a dark turn after losing control when he puts on one of these cursed relics. Consumed by the object's power, he commits the heinous act of murdering his own master and fellow craftsmen. Overwhelmed with guilt, Peru embarks on an arduous journey with the goal of finding and destroying all the legendary masks his master created, facing dangerous enemies in a battle where the fate of the world and the salvation of his own soul are at stake.


The original work, written and illustrated by the duo of authors Dr.Poro and Nabana Naba, began serialization in the pages of the seinen magazine Young King Ours of the Shonengahosha publishing house in February 2021. The manga has managed to maintain a strong fan base thanks to its gritty narrative and exploration of guilt, publishing its eighth compilation volume in July 2025 and continuing its serialization today.
