"David is dead. But Night City is still
alive." With that phrase, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 announced
in 2025 that something new was on the way. Now Netflix confirmed
the concrete details: the second installment of the anime produced by TRIGGER in
collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED will have its exclusive
premiere on the platform during the fall of 2026. The announcement
was accompanied by a new promotional image that features several of the central
characters of this story.
The image reveals four figures who have already
been identified in recent character reveals: Weak Kingsley, D, Roman
Carax, and Talia Yan. The announcement on networks confirmed
that the series will present the stories of new edgerunners, positioning the second
installment as a standalone narrative within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe
that does not require the events of the first season to follow the same path.
The promotional video released in July 2025 had
already described the project as a raw chronicle of atonement and revenge in an
all-new 10-episode story. More information about the series is scheduled for
the Anime Expo 2026 event in Los Angeles, with the latest
updates planned for July 4 in Japanese time.
About Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an original anime series
set in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game universe by CD PROJEKT
RED, produced by TRIGGER and available on Netflix. The first
season, released in September 2022, followed David Martinez, a
young man from Night City who after losing his mother decides to become an
edgerunner, a mercenary who operates outside the law in a city that devours its
inhabitants. The series became one of the most talked-about anime of the year,
reinvigorating interest in the video game from which it comes and proving that
TRIGGER could bring the material of an open world to the screen without losing
the visual identity that defines the studio.
