The franchise that turned figure skating
performances into a completely different show is moving forward. King
of Prism announced during the event "King of Prism Super Live
Prism☆Tours!" its new movie, titled King of Prism -Tri-Star Act-. The story will focus on Prism.3,
the competition for trios within the Prism Shows universe, and the promotional
image drawn by character designer Mai Matsuura carries the
tagline "Those bonds will be put to the test now..."
The new film comes after the most recent
installment in the franchise, King of Prism -Your Endless Call- Miinna
Kirameki! Prism☆Tours, released on June 27, 2025, became the
highest-grossing film in the franchise with 1.2 billion yen grossed.
On that basis, Tri-Star Act aims to explore a new facet of the world of Prism
Shows by shifting the focus from duos or individuals to trios, with the concept
of the bonds between performers as the narrative axis.
For now there is no confirmed release date.
More details are expected in the coming months.
The Production Team
Masakazu Hishida returns as chief director at Tatsunoko
Production. The rest of the core team also returns: screenwriter Jou
Aoba, character designer Mai Matsuura, CG director Yoshihiro
Otobe, original Prism Jumps designer Daisuke Kato,
composer Rei Ishizuka and sound supervisor Nobuto
Kojima. Distribution is handled by Avex Film Labels.
About King of Prism
King of Prism began as a spin-off of the Pretty
Rhythm franchise. The first film, KING OF PRISM by
PrettyRhythm, hit theaters in January 2016 and established the format of
extravagant presentations and active audience participation as part of the
experience. The second, PRIDE the HERO, arrived in June 2017.
The Shiny Seven Stars project combined a series of four theatrical
films with a 12-episode anime in 2019. Later came All Stars: Prism Show
Best 10 in 2020 and Dramatic Prism.1 in 2024 as a
compilation with new sections. The box office record achieved by the 2025
installment makes Tri-Star Act one of the projects with the
highest expectations in the franchise.
