The announcement appeared in the magazine's August issue and it's not the first time Fujiwara has returned to the series after its conclusion in 2013: he had already published a previous special chapter in the February 2025 issue of LaLa DX magazine. This new one-shot in LaLa confirms a pattern of occasional returns to the world and characters that defined manga during its years of serialization.

Maid-sama! (Kaichou wa Maid-sama!) is a manga by Hiro Fujiwara that was serialized in Hakusensha's LaLa magazine from 2006 to 2013, collected in eighteen volumes plus an additional volume published in August 2018. The story follows Misaki Ayuzawa, a high school student council president who hides her part-time job in a maid cafeteria, and Takumi Usui, the school's most popular student who discovers that secret.
