If you thought we'd seen absolutely every
corner of the Aincrad arc by now, the franchise just gave us a good sugar slap.
The editorial team behind Sword Art Online announced the
imminent publication of Sword Art Online Material 1: Sugary Days, a
new light novel scheduled to land on Japanese shelves this
coming August 7. Far from the brutal battles for survival, this
volume will focus on squeezing the most out of Kirito and Asuna's honeyed
newlywed lives, promising to be the most romantic and tranquil episode in the
entire history of the work.
The narrative of this new book drags us back to
the time when the dangerous conquest of the 75th floor began. After finally
confessing their feelings and getting married within the game, the couple seeks
a moment of peace. The plot promises to melt fans with direct phrases from
Asuna such as "You can do whatever you want... because I belong only to
you, Kirito." However, the real conflict of the story is triggered by a
simple domestic whim: the young wife wants a custom-made rocking chair. To fulfill
this wish, our protagonist and his partner turn to Mahokle, a talented player
specialized in wood crafts, triggering a completely unexpected situation that
will end up ruining his evening.
Returning to the initial stage of the deadly
game is a brilliant and totally safe move on the part of author Reki
Kawahara, considering that his literary creation has already surpassed the
monstrous figure of 30 million copies in circulation globally. Although the
extensive arc of Alicization already gave a spectacular closure to the main
television series after 97 episodes broadcast since 2012, the editorial board
knows perfectly well that nostalgia for the couple's early days sells. In fact,
this paper release will serve as an excellent appetizer while the community
patiently awaits the arrival of the recently announced original film, Sword
Art Online -Integral Domain-, which will hit theaters until the distant
year 2028.
Considering that the main survival plot is
already more than explored
