When two of
the industry's most acclaimed and respected studios join forces for the first
time, the result promises to be an unforgettable audiovisual experience. Bandai
Namco Filmworks presented a new promotional trailer for the animated
adaptation of the manga Fool Night (Furu Naito),
also confirming that its premiere will take place globally through the Netflix catalog
on November 26.
This
project represents the first official collaboration between the prestigious Sunrise and SHAFT studios, an
unprecedented alliance that keeps the community with sky-high
expectations. The series will be directed by Atsushi Yukawa,
accompanied by Jin Tanaka in the supervision of the scripts
and Robert Sato in the character design, while the soundtrack
will be composed by the talented Tatsuya Kato.
The
desperate struggle to preserve humanity
The plot
immerses us in a dystopian world to follow in the footsteps of Toshiro Kamiya,
a young man stricken by poverty who has reached the limit of his strength. With
her mother seriously ill and a job whose income is barely enough to pay for her
medicines, Kamiya sees no other way out than to undergo the
"transflowering" process. This disturbing scientific procedure
consists of giving up one's own body in exchange for a strong economic
compensation to progressively become vegetation, exploring the darkest corners
of a society whose empathy is gradually extinguished.

Fool Night
The original
manga, written and illustrated by Kasumi Yasuda, began

November 2020. Thanks to its oppressive atmosphere and powerful social critique,
this true gem of the genre quickly positioned itself in the
public's taste, reaching number 12 on the list for male readers of the
prestigious Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide in 2023.
With a
premise so dark that it explores human desperation and the sacrifice of one's
own body
