If you like
comedies with unlikely romances and a touch of police investigation, this
project is going to catch your eye. King Amusement Creative released the first
news for the animated adaptation of the manga A Pen, Handcuffs, and a
Common-Law Marriage (Pen to Wappa to Jijitsu Kon), confirming
that the series will hit screens in January 2027. In addition to the
first video trailer, the production revealed a promotional image, the voice
actors who will give life to the main couple and the production team.
The story
starts with a most curious premise: Eiji Kirisame is a 40-year-old detective
who ends up investigating a case with the strangest witness of his career. It
is Tsugumi Kuchinashi, a high school student present at the scene of the crime
who does not say a single word. Instead of talking, he transmits everything he
saw through doodles and sketches in a sketchbook. Eiji takes matters with total
professionalism to decipher the case page by page, until he reaches the last
page and comes across a message that completely disorients his routine: "Will
you marry me?"

characters will feature performances by prominent voice actors:

The
animation of the series will be in charge of the EMT Squared studio,
under the direction of Takaaki Ishiyama. The script supervision
will be in the hands of Shigeru Murakoshi, while Miyuki
Nakamura will adapt the character designs. In the sound section, Hiroto
Morishita will assume the sound direction and Kana Hashiguchi will
compose the soundtrack.
