Staying
regularized in school is usually the worst punishment for anyone, but when your
roommate turns out to be the idol of the moment, academic torture becomes the
best arc of your life. The Hokago no Idol ni wa Himitsu ga Aru (Everyone's
Darling Has a Secret) franchise made official the production of its own
anime adaptation, confirming that this school romance story will premiere on
screens in April 2027.
The story
introduces us to Hizashi Hiruno, a freshman who is quite focused on his studies
and lives under constant family pressure to maintain perfect grades. After an
unexpected stumble in his first exams of the year, the young man ends up
failing and sent directly to the regularization sessions in the afternoons.
What seemed like a total disaster is turned around when she discovers that her
supportive classmate is Rei Kuromiya, the star of the popular idol group Blue
Impulse.
Despite
projecting a perfect image to the audience as a young prodigy who balances
stage and school effortlessly, Rei faces her own dilemma after promising her
mother that she will leave the group if her grades drop too low. Sharing the
same space after the doorbell, the two begin to study together in secret,
discovering that behind the façade of the perfect idol and the model student
there are two ordinary people who connect sincerely while trying to save their
respective futures.
The
animated project will be produced by the Gekko studio under the
direction of Hikaru Sato, known for his previous work at the helm of productions
such as The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You
and Dropkick on My Devil!. The story composition and scripts will be in
charge of Fumihiko Shimo, while Kibidango 14-go will take over
the character design. The soundtrack will feature the talent of Satoru
Kosaki and the Monastic collective, backed by the production of Ryo
Aizawa.
As for the
voice cast, actor Reiji Kawashima will play Hizashi Hiruno, while Hikaru
Tono will lend his voice to Rei Kuromiya. The main cast is complemented by Iori
Noguchi, a member of the idol group =LOVE, giving life to Sakura Akai, the
oldest and most reliable member of the musical group, and Ami Maeshima
in the role of Sora Konno, the most relaxed girl of Blue Impulse.
Hokago
no Idol ni wa Himitsu ga Aru is a romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Kashiko Amane,
which began serialization on the digital platforms Young Animal Web and Manga
Park of the Hakusensha publishing house in September 2022. The work has so
far gathered nine compilation volumes in the Japanese market, winning the
affection of readers thanks to its sweet perspective on the clash between the
public life of an artist and the daily life of school.
