The clock
has finally started ticking down to one of the most acclaimed psychological
horror stories of recent years. The official account of the manga The
Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) revealed the news
that many feared: the work created by Mokumokuren has only two
chapters left to reach its final outcome on paper.
The news
fell suddenly among readers who week after week follow the murky relationship
between Yoshiki and the entity that impersonated his best friend. According to
the official calendar revealed by the production, chapter 50 will be published
on October 13, while chapter 51, which will mark the absolute end of the story
in the magazine, will be released on October 20.
The author
invited the audience to accompany the characters until the last breath of this
plot that has not stopped generating tension and discomfort since its debut.
With the previous confirmation of a second season for its
animated adaptation after the success of its first installment in mid-2025, the
closure of the printed work will leave the ground ready for the small screen to
adapt the entire final stretch of the story.

by Mokumokuren in 2021, The Summer Hikaru Died is
a work of suspense and horror that became a true jewel of the industry by being
crowned first place in the male reader category of the prestigious Kono Manga
ga Sugoi! 2023. The story takes the reader to an isolated rural village where
Yoshiki discovers a heartbreaking truth: his childhood friend, Hikaru Indou,
died in the mountains and what returned in his place is an unknown being who
