The clock has finally started ticking down to one of the most acclaimed psychological horror stories of recent years. The official account of the manga The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) revealed the news that many feared: the work created by Mokumokuren has only two chapters left to reach its final outcome on paper.

The news fell suddenly among readers who week after week follow the murky relationship between Yoshiki and the entity that impersonated his best friend. According to the official calendar revealed by the production, chapter 50 will be published on October 13, while chapter 51, which will mark the absolute end of the story in the magazine, will be released on October 20.

The author invited the audience to accompany the characters until the last breath of this plot that has not stopped generating tension and discomfort since its debut. With the previous confirmation of a second season for its animated adaptation after the success of its first installment in mid-2025, the closure of the printed work will leave the ground ready for the small screen to adapt the entire final stretch of the story.

Created by Mokumokuren in 2021, The Summer Hikaru Died is a work of suspense and horror that became a true jewel of the industry by being crowned first place in the male reader category of the prestigious Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023. The story takes the reader to an isolated rural village where Yoshiki discovers a heartbreaking truth: his childhood friend, Hikaru Indou, died in the mountains and what returned in his place is an unknown being who wears his skin. Despite the obvious danger, Yoshiki chooses to stay by his side, triggering a spiral of paranormal events and emotional dependency that conquered thousands of people around the world.

With only two installments to find out what will really happen between Yoshiki and that entity that impersonates Hikaru
