Quitting a shitty job in search of a better life is anyone's dream, but accidentally ending up in a hitman agency and discovering that you are a natural talent for dispatching people is another level. The fun franchise Happy Kanako's Killer Life (Shiawase Kanako no Koroshiya Seikatsu) officially confirmed that it will make the leap to television with its own anime adaptation, which will premiere in April 2027.
The
announcement was accompanied by its first trailer video and a promotional image
released by TOHO animation, a production company that a day earlier had left
fans intrigued by posting the image of otters accompanied by the phrase
"Otter Agent". The story follows Kanako Nishino, a girl with low
self-esteem who decides to quit her job because of labor exploitation. However,
upon interviewing for a new position, she discovers that the company is engaged
in target elimination contracts, turning out to be strangely good at the art of
assassination while trying to earn the respect of Sakurai, her handsome but
cantankerous co-worker.
In the
voice cast section, the production confirmed Hana Tamegai to give life
to the protagonist Kanako Nishino. Joining him will be Ryota Suzuki
(best known for playing Yu Ishigami in Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Ryuu
Enjin in WIND BREAKER) who voices the fussy Sakurai, while talented
veteran Junichi Suwabe (famous for playing Shota Aizawa in My Hero
Academia and Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen) will play the
enigmatic President of the agency.
Behind the
scenes, the project will be in the hands of the Drive studio with the
direction and supervision of scripts by the legendary Shinji Takamatsu,
remembered for his impeccable work at the helm of cult comedies such as Gintama
and Grand Blue. For his part, Yoshiyuki Okubo assumes the
character design and main animation direction after his work in productions
such as Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
