When a
franchise has the community eating out of hand, the numbers simply don't lie.
The analysis group Anime Data Insight Lab, belonging to the giant Bushiroad,
presented the official results of the 2026 Summer Anime Awards, an
evaluation based on the tracking of real data on 73 series broadcast during the
summer season in Japan. After measuring the volume of Google searches and
conversation on social networks for ten weeks, the verdict was resounding: the
third season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation swept the
competition and won the Grand Prix of the summer.
To put
together this ranking without passion, the study measured the level of
popularity by combining the frequency of internet searches with the number of
posts generated by fans. With an impressive combined score of 73.9 points,
Rudeus Greyrat's comeback was unrivaled. The series reached the highest search
mark of the entire summer since its first episode, also placing it in third
place in constant conversation on social networks.
The awards
also left room for other productions that surprised everyone. The comedy Yani
Neko won the award for the big surprise after tripling its popularity in
just its second week of broadcasting, registering the most brutal growth of the
season. Meanwhile, the new adaptation of THE GHOST IN THE SHELL took
home the title with the most media attention, generating twice as many news
articles as any other anime thanks to its announcements of musical themes and
international performances.
The award
for best start for an all-new work went to Tenmaku no Jaadugar, beating
out any other release that wasn't a sequel in its first week. Likewise, the
house's music franchise, BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA won the award for the
most passionate community, registering the highest and most constant level of
interaction among the original projects of the season. As a curious fact, the
new installment of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War achieved the highest
weekly conversation peak of the entire summer during its fifth week, but was
left out of the awards as it had aired only seven episodes within the period
analyzed.
Mushoku
Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a series of light novels written by Rifujin na Magonote and
illustrated by Shirotaka, considered by many to be the mother work of
the modern isekai genre. The story follows a 34-year-old unemployed man who,
after being killed by a truck, is reincarnated in a fantasy world as Rudeus
Greyrat, preserving the memories of his past life and making the firm decision
not to make the same mistakes and to live his new opportunity to the fullest.
The anime
adaptation is in charge of the Studio Bind studio, created specifically
to animate this franchise with outstanding visual and narrative quality. After
the resounding success of its previous installments, the third season once
again consolidated the work as the gold standard within the fantasy genre on
Japanese television.
