Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the release date of the Sword Art Online: Alicization: Lycoris game for Japan will be pushed back to July 9 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and July 10 for PC via Steam.

The decision was made in consideration of the safety of the staff and the players in the face of the spread of the new disease by Coronavirus (COVID-19). The game was originally scheduled to be released on May 21.

Regarding the overseas release, Bandai Namco Entertainment has not announced any changes to the originally announced dates, which are May 22.

About Sword Art Online: Alicization: Lycoris

The story of the game follows the same lines as the Sword Art Online light novels (specifically novels 9-18). However, the story differs from the start of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, as it takes its own route at that point. The development staff consulted author Reki Kawahara, who expressed his wish that at least the game will respect half of the original story.
