The Hataraku Maou-sama light novels! will end in summer

The digital version of the latest issue of Dengeki Bunko magazine from Kadokawa publisher revealed that the series of light novels written by Satoshi Wagahara, Hataraku Maou-sama! It will come to an end with the publication of volume # 21, scheduled for this summer.


Wagahara began publishing the light novels with 029 illustrations via the Dengeki Bunko imprint in February 2011. The publisher published the 20th volume in December 2019.

The manga adaptation of the main story has been published in the Dengeki Daioh magazine by the Kadokawa publisher since February 2012 and by Akio Hiiragi. Additionally, the novels inspired a thirteen-episode anime adaptation produced by White Fox Studios under the direction of Naoto Hosoda, and released in April 2013.

Synopsis of Hataraku Maou-sama!

The Demon Lord Satan seeks to conquer the world of Ente Isla by annexing its four continents with the help of his generals Alciel, Lucifer, Malacoda and Adramelech. After being confronted by the heroine Emilia and her companions, and seeing their generals Malacoda and Adramelech dead, Satan and Alciel escape the world through a portal to the city of Tokyo, Japan.

However, due to the absence of magic in the new world, both Satan and Alciel change their forms to humans. To survive, Satan takes a part-time job at the "MgRonald" fast food restaurant, while Alciel takes care of the housework. One day, Satan (who is now named Sadao Maou) meets Emi Yusa, who turns out to be the heroine Emilia.
