Former editor-in-chief of Dengeki Bunko and current publisher of series such as Toaru Majutsu no Index and Sword Art Online, Kazuma Miki commented that he is working on a novel he authored. On February 10, the publisher began publishing a web novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou site.

The novel is titled Cheat no Ou: Isekai Tensei no Saikyou Yuusha VS Mura no Juunin, and the synopsis is described as follows:

What if ... instead of being reincarnated in another world as a powerful protagonist (the cheater), you were one of the people who suffer from that protagonist (those who cheat)?

Yuri is a young man from a certain village who aspires to be a soldier. If you continue your diligent work, you may be able to pass the exam to become an Imperial Knight. But one day, chaos strikes his people. Yuri is attacked by "the shadows" who murdered his family, and he is unable to do anything about it.

Shortly after, he discovers that "the shadows" are invincible beings who reincarnated from a world called "Japan" and who have ridiculous statistics. Having narrowly evaded death, Yuri swears that he will defeat “the shadows” and, for this, will gain the power of the God of Darkness in the abyss of the world. Gaining immortality will not matter how many times you are killed, it will always return.

Before his sworn enemy known as "The Hero", he will become the "Demon King".

The most recent update of this work was on March 7. Miki also wrote a spin-off story for the Sword Art Online franchise, commemorating the tenth anniversary of light novels.

Currently, he serves as the director of Straight Edge, a talent and intellectual property management company. He also serves as editor at LINE Novel, an online service where users can read and publish novels through the LINE app.
