Death Note inspires a line of wines and ciders

The Shiraito Sake Brewery company announced the launch of a wine line inspired by the manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, Death Note. The line includes the following products:
  • Sparkling white wine inspired by Light Yagami.
  • A pair of Ryuk-inspired sparkling apple ciders.
  • Mild white wine inspired by L.
  • A couple of sparkling wines, red and white, inspired by Mello and Near.


Each package includes a label inspired by the respective character, and those who reserve one of the products before June 14 on the official website of the distributor (link) will also receive a special decal. Each package is priced at 3,500 yen (about $ 32) and is slated for launch in the middle of this month.

About Death Note

It is a manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata., Who published it in the Shueisha editorial Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between December 2003 and May 2006, with a total of twelve published compilation volumes.

The play inspired a 37-episode anime adaptation produced by Madhouse Studios, directed by Tetsurou Araki and screenplays written by Toshiki Inoue, released in October 2006.
