The Pretty Series franchise will make a major announcement this month.

In the official Twitter account for the Pretty Series franchise, it was revealed that, in commemoration of the franchise's 10th anniversary, on July 15 at 7:00 p.m. (Japan Standard Time), an “important announcement” will be made.
The company Takara Tomy and Syn Sophia co-produced the Pretty Series franchise, which began with the release of the arcade game Pretty Series: Mini Skirt on July 15, 2010. This game inspired four anime seasons as well as five animated films, which in turn they gave rise to another franchise, King of Prism. The sequel PriPara (also known as PuriPara) was released in 2014 and inspired four anime seasons and four animated films. In summary, the franchise consists, to date, of the following series:

  • Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream, 51 episodes aired between April 2011 and March 2012.
  • Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future, 51 episodes aired between April 2012 and March 2013.
  • Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live, 51 episodes aired between April 2013 and March 2014.
  • PriPara, 140 episodes aired between July 2014 and March 2017.
  • Idol Time PriPara, 51 episodes aired between April 2017 and March 2018.
  • Kiratto Pri Chan, broadcast since April 2018.

This latest series is the most recent anime in the Pretty Series franchise, and the first season premiered in April 2018; followed by a second season that premiered in April 2019. The current series is accordingly the third season.

Production team

  • Hiroshi Ikehata is in charge of directing the anime at Tatsunoko Production and Dongwoo Animation studios.
  • Kazuho Hyodo is responsible for the composition of the series.
  • Hajime Mitsuda is in charge of character design.
  • Tatsuya Katou is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.

Synopsis for Kiratto Pri Chan / Pretty Series

The series focuses on two high school girls named Mirai Momoyama and Emo Moegi. The two aspiring idols decide to use the "Pri ☆ Chan System", a system used by celebrities and companies to broadcast live content. Like many other girls who have their own channels and share content, the couple decides to enter the business and open their own channel, to become Pri ☆ Chan idols.
