On the official site for the manga written and illustrated by Tugeneko, Ueno-san wa Bukiyou, it was revealed that the work has exceeded 550,000 copies in circulation.
Tugeneko has published the manga in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine since February 2015. The publisher published the seventh compilation volume on March 27, and will publish the eighth on July 29.
The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Lesprit Studios, under the direction of and scripts written by Tomohiro Yamanashi, released in January 2019.
Synopsis of Ueno-san wa Bukiyou
The comedy manga centers on headline Ueno, a stoic, strong-willed genius who is the president of her school's science club. She has already invented many useful artifacts for her own use, but her intelligence does not cover the sentimental part, as she is very clumsy and shy when it comes to romance.
