Steam eliminates visual novel Bokuten on charges of "child pornography"

The general public version of the visual novel developed by MangaGamer, Bokuten - Why I Became an Angel was removed from the Steam video game platform for allegedly including leftover "hidden" content for adults involving "underage" characters. However, the developer has already stated that this is not the case and that there is not a shred of adult content in this title at all.

The visual novel Bokuten - Why I Became an Angel, which was released on Steam without the adult scenes (i.e., a version for all ages) eight months ago, was recently deleted from the platform, with the developers mentioning that they never received an explanation of why and arguing that since its launch they have never implemented new content in the product.

The developer posted the following message: “The entire development team for this visual novel spent countless hours developing both the adult version and the version suitable for all audiences, and seeing it banned from a platform without prior notice was a severe blow to our pride. Bokuten was "our baby" and deserved a better deal. However, they can still get it from our official site. "
While some users on networks believed that this was just another chapter in the well-known Steam story banning erotic games, games with "underage characters" (although this installment was rated as suitable for all audiences), or simply for being a game with anime aesthetics, an official response from Valve Vice President Doug Lombardi alleged that the game still included "hidden" content for adults, and that an external patch was used to extract it.

However, John Pickett, the production manager of MangaGamer, clarified however that if users were to seek to reset the sexual scenes of the game in the general public version, they would have to do so externally, emphasizing that none of this content was “hidden. " inside the game. Despite the fact that the developer has already clarified this matter, it is still not clear that this visual novel will be added again to the Steam store, and it does not seem to be the last to go through these accusations.
