Kyoto Animation Studios reported that Violet Evergarden the Movie has surpassed 1.5 billion yen (approximately $ 14.3 million) in cumulative earnings and 1.11 million tickets sold within 38 days of its release in Japanese theaters. The film ranked sixth in gross on its sixth weekend, breaking out of the Top 5 after five consecutive weeks.

The film opened in Japanese theaters on September 18 after being delayed twice due to the attack on the first studio building and the massive closure of cinemas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is worth mentioning that Kyoto Animation recently published the first ten minutes of the feature film.
