Akari Kitou: Single 'Kimi no Tonari de' Gets Great Sales

On the official Twitter account of voice actress and singer Akari Kitou, it was announced that her third solo single, entitled “Kimi no Tonari de (Next to You)”, had excellent sales in its first week, registering 6,247 copies sold and ranking 10th in Oricon's sales ranking. This has also become her first single to enter the Top 10 of this list.

The single was released by the Pony Canyon record company on October 28 in Japan, and the title track is also the ending theme for the animated adaptation of the Adachi to Shimamura light novels. The music video for the short version of the song includes dramatic live-action scenes inspired by anime history, and now has more than 400,000 views.

Akari Kitou also plays one of the two leads, Adachi, alongside Miku Itou as Shimamura. The two voice actresses performed the anime's opening theme together, titled "Kimi ni Aeta Hi (The Day I Got to Meet You)." The CD of the single for this song was released on October 28, and it ranked 22nd in Oricon's weekly sales ranking, with 1,781 copies sold.

While serving as a voice actress, Kitou has been constantly building her career as a solo singer. Her first solo single, titled “Swinging Heart,” was released on October 16, 2019, and ranked eleventh on the Oricon chart. Then her second single titled "Desire Again" ranked fourteenth in its first week. Finally, her first studio album titled "STYLE", was released on June 10, 2020 and ranked 7th on Oricon's weekly sales rankings.
