During an information panel at the Jump Festa '21 event, it was revealed that the second part of the manga written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man, will be entitled "Gakkou-hen (School Arch)", and will focus on Denji going to school. The announcement did not reveal any further details, such as the start date of serialization, however, earlier leaks indicated that the play will be moved to the Shonen Jump Plus service in this second part.

Fujimoto has been publishing the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since December 2018, finishing the first part entitled "Kouan-hen (Public Security Arc)" on December 14. The publisher published the eighth volume of the compilation on August 4, followed by the ninth volume on November 4 in Japan.

In addition to recently exceeding five million copies in circulation, the work also confirmed the production of an animated adaptation by MAPPA studios (Jujutsu Kaisen, Dorohedoro, Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season), details of which have not been disclosed.

Synopsis of Chainsaw Man

The story takes place in a world in which demons threaten the peace of humans, making them targets to be eliminated. Denji is a young, depressed man who has sold several of his organs and works as a lumberjack and demon-hunter to pay off his late father's debt.

Denji owns a dog (which is also a demon) called Pochita, which has chainsaws and which he uses to do his job. This is explained because humans can make contracts with demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a Yakuza to infiltrate a building and kill another demon. However, the plan was a trap to kill him as part of the Yakuza's contract with the demon, thus giving them more power. But Pochita comes to Denji's aid and joins him, becoming a half-man half-demon and acquiring Pochita's chainsaws.
