Date A Live Season 4 to Premiere in October

Through a special broadcast held at the KADOKAWA Light Novel EXPO 2020 event, a new promotional image was released for the fourth season of the anime adaptation of the light novels written by Koushi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, Date A Live (also known as Date A Live IV). The series will premiere next October in Japan. It was also announced that GEEKTOYS studios will be in charge of animating the series.


Koushi Tachibana and Tsunako published the original light novels through Fujimi Shobo Publishing House's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint between March 2011 and March 2020, with a total of 22 volumes. The franchise, in addition to multiple manga adaptations, also inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by AIC Plus Studios in April 2013. A ten-episode second season produced by J.C.STAFF studios premiered in April 2014, followed by a twelve-episode third season in January 2019.


Date A Live Synopsis.


Thirty years ago, a strange phenomenon called a Space Earthquake devastated central Eurasia, taking with it the lives of over 150 million people. Since then, minor space earthquakes have been manifesting themselves around the world.


Shidou Itsuka, a seemingly normal high school student meets a girl at the epicenter of a space earthquake. He is informed by his sister Kotori that this girl is one of the spirits who, by making their presence known in the world, are causing such space earthquakes. He also learns that his sister is the captain of the ship Ratatoskr. She recruits him in order to make use of her mysterious ability to seal the spirits' powers. In order to prevent them from becoming a threat to humanity. However, there is a catch. In order to seal a Spirit's powers, Shidou must make it fall in love with him.
