Concurrent with the announcement of the release of the thirteenth volume of the light novels written by Tetsuro Uesu and illustrated by Nekosuke Ookuma, Shinmai Maou no Testament (The Testament of Sister New Devil), it was announced that the release will have a special edition that will include printed illustrations as a benefit. These illustrations will be available on a limited basis at select stores in Japan.
This will be the first volume after a three-year hiatus, will be released next March 31 in Japan and is described as follows: "A collection of short stories that were not told in the main serialization and includes additions and corrections to both previously published and new installments."
Uesu and Ookuma began publishing the light novels through Kadokawa Publishing House's Sneaker Bunko imprint in September 2012. The publisher released the twelfth volume in April 2018, and this had been described as the last in the series.
In addition to a manga adaptation by Kashiwa Miyako and other spin-off works, the work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Production IMS Studios and released in January 2015. A second season of ten episodes with the same production team was released in October 2015, followed by an OVA in March 2018.

Meeting her new stepsister in the bathroom is not the best way to make a good first impression, which Basara Toujou learns the hard way. When his father suddenly brings home two beautiful girls and introduces them as his new sisters, he has no choice but to accept the Naruse sisters into his family: the busty redhead Mio and the petite silver-haired Maria.
